THE PUBLIC DARKROOM
The Public Darkroom is Fox Spirit’s way of honoring the values of film photography and darkroom techniques, art forms that are gradually fading in Vietnam. At the same time, we aim to connect with those who have, currently share, or will develop a passion for film and darkroom processes, providing a space to explore, exchange ideas, and delve into the fascinating aspects of contemporary photography.
Fox Spirit’s darkroom service is fully equipped with enlargers, enlarging lenses, easels, and chemical trays to ensure a seamless and professional printing process.
Notes:
Darkroom access is reserved exclusively for members who have participated in our Darkroom Workshop, are familiar with darkroom procedures, and can independently produce finished prints. If this is your first time using a darkroom, we recommend joining our Darkroom Workshop.
Our darkroom service currently supports black-and-white printing only and does not offer color printing.
Rental Fees
- Per Session: 270,000 VND
- Maximum Duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes per session
- Overtime Fee: An additional 150,000 VND per hour for extended time
Chemicals
- When using our darkroom service, all necessary chemicals will be prepared in advance. However, we encourage you to bring your own chemicals if you prefer to achieve results tailored to your personal taste.
- If you do not bring your own chemicals, we will provide three basic chemicals, stored in three labeled trays
- Developer: Ilford Bromophen
- Stop Bath: Plain Water
- Fix: Ilford Rapid Fixer
- If the chemical bottles are running low, please immediately notify the darkroom staff for prompt assistance. All chemical bottles and containers must be neatly arranged and securely capped after each session.
- Please be a responsible user to ensure both your safety and the well-being of others.
Enlargers
- As part of our service, you may choose one of the enlargers available in the darkroom.
- The available enlargers (all equipped with timers) include:
- 1 Fuji S690 Professional
- 1 Fuji C450 Dichroic Color Enlarger
- Instructions for using the enlargers can be accessed by scanning the QR code on each machine or via the documentation links below.
- All enlargers come equipped with a 35mm negative holder and a 50mm lens.
